BASKETBALL
Player Critique: U16B
L Mncwangi (captain): He is a multi-talented player who plays with great
heart, drive and passion. He is a very good 1st team prospect. The team was largely made up of raw talent and was strong both on
offence and in defence. They had the ability to make the U16A team work
hard to out-play them. From the beginning of the season, their main goal
was to achieve an undefeated season. Fifty percent of their goal was
achieved in the first term. Out of four encounters they were victorious in
two, with convincing wins. Their journey did not end in the first term. At the
start of the fourth term they meant business, winning all four encounters.
The Westville fixture is always an exciting one. Having lost 14-31 in the first
term, College came back strongly in the fourth term, beating them 20-18.
All in all we had a wonderful and exciting season with highly committed
boys. I look forward to seeing some of them representing our school in the
first team.
N Luthuli: He is a skilful player and was a fundamental part of the team.
He has the ability to dominate a game, both defensively and offensively.
He will play an important role in the years to come.
L Shange: He was voted ‘Player of the Season’ and ‘Most Improved
Player’. He avails himself at both ends of the court. He is an active player,
a great shooter and should make the 1st team next year.
P Simamane: He has the necessary skills and the potential to be a great
player if he is able to spend more time on the court.
S Trollip: He is a young, skilful and talented lad who is fun and easy to
coach. With the right amount of coaching and hard work he could be a
future star for the school as he has time and again proved himself on the
court amongst older players.
C Tyrer: If he continues to work hard and spend time on improving his
playing abilities he has a potentially bright basketball future ahead of him.

N Mpontshane: He was a new player to the team and he worked hard
during the off season. Although his style of play was different from that of
the team, he always found ways to add value. First Term

U16C
The U16C team had a very successful season. The boys posted a pleasing
set of results, winning seven out of 11 matches, while one was drawn. It
has been a privilege to be part of their growth, not only as sportsmen but
as growing young men. Thank you to the parents who gave up their time
to transport the boys to their games and watched them play. I wish all the
boys the best of luck for the future.
