BOARDING
Elliott House
Housemaster :
Mr P Snyman
Boarder Masters : Messrs G Erasmus , B Henderson , M Baptista , A van Wyk , D Sherriff , C Fraser
The 2016 year has been a good one for Elliott House on the cultural front , sports field and in the academic sphere . This year we had 68 boarders in Elliott House . They took a while to settle in . They were one of the better groups we have had and I would like to thank them for making it an enjoyable year . Many of the boys went through the year without receiving a bolt .
After 15 years as Housemaster I have decided that the time has come to step down . I would like to thank Maritzburg College for the opportunity to run Elliott House , it has been both challenging and enjoyable and I have learned much along the way .
To all the Sixth Formers , thanks for being a mature group and for finishing off in a dignified way . All the best for the future and I hope each and every one of you achieve your goals .
Mr P Snyman
The Elliott House boys did the House proud with their achievements in the different spheres of school life and all these achievements are recorded in the appropriate sections of this magazine . They all received certificates at the formal dinner in October . The formal dinner is enjoyable to the boarders and boarder masters and I would like to thank Heather and her team for the delicious food . M Dicks received a certificate for being the Elliott House Boarder of the year .
I would like to thank all the boarder masters , Messrs G Erasmus , B Henderson , M Baptista , D Sherriff , A van Wyk and C Fraser for all their hard work , performing their duties well and for supporting me during the year . Mr Fraser is taking over from me as House master from 2017 . I wish him and his family a long and happy stay in Elliott house .
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the following people : Mr Hackland , Shaun Crossan and his maintenance team for all their hard work in Elliott House throughout the year , for keeping ‘ Alcatraz ’ in a good state at all times , and for overseeing the smooth running of the very busy laundry facilities ; Sisters Houghting and Townsend for taking such good care of the Elliott House boarders when they were not feeling well ; Mrs Lawson for feeding the Elliott House Boarders and staff so well ; Mrs Parker for all the administrative work she does for Elliott House , and Mrs Brand and Ms Hackland for the administration work they did for the Elliott House newsletters .
My thanks also to Mr Marwick for his help , support and advice during the year , and especially for his input and suggesting different ways to improve the BE .
