[1] In the seventeenth century Newton created a fundamental synthesis of the physics of his time, bringing all the laws of mechanics back to just three principles. The three laws of Newton's mechanics concern all the forces of every kind present in nature. They, together with the law of universal gravitation which introduces one of the forces fundamental to nature (gravitational force), they constitute the compendium of classical mechanics.
