For over 60 years, TRB Lightweight
Structures has been responsible for
the supply of various transport technologies and components across
industry sectors. The company specialises in the design and manufacture of lightweight structures which, though dramatically
reduced in weight, are not compromised in
terms of durability, strength and functioning
performance. Such technologies are particularly useful for implementation in the transport
industry for there is an ever-present demand
for the weight of vehicles to be reduced which,
in turn, reduces fuel consumption and costs,
thereby generating greater energy efficiency. It
is consistently successful and, owing to its
longevity, boasts a wealth of industry experience, expertise which will no doubt facilitate
its prosperity for another 60 years.
Most renowned for its contribution to the
rail service, TRB is a Tier 1 supplier to Europe's
primary train builders and supplies various
components from structural partitions
between carriages to coffee units. This acclaim
has been built upon and TRB Lightweight
Structures has expanded into multiple markets,
now significant in the aerospace, energy, automotive and marine industries. As such, the company has received AS9100 accreditation. This
acclaim assesses the quality and risk management undertaken by the company in respect of
their aerospace and defence products.
Managing Director, Richard Holland, said of the
accreditation:
“As specialists in the design and engineering
of lightweight composite solutions, we enjoy
the challenges that the aerospace industry provides. Obtaining AS9100 now allows us to
extend our expertise as an end-to-end service
provider further into the heart of this demanding industry, as well as improving our service to
existing customers in aerospace and defence.”
Holland continued: “In the last 12 months, in
addition to putting in place additional composites capabilities, we’ve been on a journey that
has seen us implement many improvements
across the business to raise quality and drive
down costs. A key focus on production efficiency means that we are now able to offer significantly reduced lead times. As a result, we’re
currently in the process of negotiating new contracts with a number of aerospace customers
and we expect more to come on-board now that
we are AS9100 approved.”
The company has contributed pioneering
design to all three sectors of lightweight structure manufacturing. It produces thermoset and
