John Phillips Named MISD Ambassador of Education Lady Wolves’ Point Guard Selected for McDonald’s All American Team M ansfield ISD honored John Phillips with its 2017 Ambassador of Education Award. This award is given to a person who consistently demonstrates exemplary performance and committed service to Mansfield ISD. Phillips was presented with the award at the 2017 Employee Awards Banquet on May 8. John Phillips is president of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.  He oversees operations of a 254-bed non-profit tertiary, acute care hospital with more than 1,000 employees and 200 physicians. Among his many accomplishments, Phillips was named Executive of the Year from the Fort Worth Business Press and is among Becker’s Hospital Review’s top CEOs. He serves on the Texas Hospital Association Policy Committee on Quality and Patient Safety and Committee on Excellence in Community Service Award. Locally, Phillips serves on the board of trustees for the Dallas/Fort Worth Hospital Council and board of directors for the Mansfield Economic Development Corporation, Mansfield ISD Education Foundation Board, Mansfield Chamber and Arlington YMCA Community Advisory Board. Chennedy Carter shares a special moment with her coach, Kit Martin. M ansfield Timberview senior and Texas A&M basketball commit Chennedy Carter was named to the McDonald’s All American Team. Chennedy (pronounced Kennedy) played in the 2017 McDonald’s All American game held in Chicago’s United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls, on March 29. The game was televised live on ESPNU. “Of course this was a goal for me. I have always wanted to be an McDonald’s All American, and this is what I have worked toward since I was a child,” Chennedy told USA Today HS Sports in a February interview. “My senior year was the big year that the announcement would come out, and this is what I have been looking forward to. I’m blessed to have the opportunity.”   Chennedy was also selected to play in the 2017 Jordan Brand Classic April 14, 2017 at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York. Superintendent Dr. Jim Vaszauskas surprised John Phillips with the Ambassador of Education Award, along with his family, during the Employee Awards Banquet. “Chennedy is an example of an exemplary Texas high school athlete,” said MISD Athletic Director Philip O’Neal. “Not only is she the number 6 player in the nation and the number 2 point guard who helped lead her team to the State finals, she was also named the top recruit in Texas by Premier Basketball Report.
