Nine MISD Students Honored as National Hispanic Scholars

ine Mansfield ISD seniors have been named National Hispanic Scholars for their outstanding scores on
the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Analisa Garcia (Summit High School), Cheyenne Macias (Summit High School), Samone Card (Summit
High School), Briana Moreno-Maldonado (Legacy High School), Ryan Mata (Legacy High School),
Lauren Higuera (Legacy High School), Sulia Drewery (Legacy High School), Nathan Button (Frontier
High School) and Anthony Reilly (Timberview High School) are part of the top 2 percent of Hispanic/
Latino pupils who took the test.
Each year, only 5,000 students in the nation are named National Hispanic Scholars. The chosen students must
take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year, achieve the minimum required test score, be at least
one-quarter Hispanic/Latino and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of their junior year.
Although the Hispanic National Scholars program is not a scholarship competition, colleges use the program
to identify academically exceptional Hispanic/Latino students.
Legacy High’s scholars include Ryan Mata, Sulia Drewery, Briana Moreno-Maldonado and Lauren Higuera.
Cheyenne Macias, Analisa Garcia and Samone Card are the
scholars from Summit High School.
Anthony Reilly from Timberview High and Nathan Button
from Frontier High were also commended for their
accomplishment.
