Charlotte Anderson Elementary School Named as A School of Promising Practices Charlotte Anderson Elementa- ry School was recently honored by Character.org as a School of Prom- ising Practices. The campus also received an honorable mention as a National School of Character. For over 20 years, Character.org has evaluated and certified char- acter initiatives in schools through National and State Schools (and Districts) of Character. In a rigorous application and review process, schools must demonstrate success- ful implementation of all 11 princi- ples for the entire school commu- nity. Charlotte Anderson was rec- ognized for incorporating various character development activities into their everyday practice, includ- ing; students’ exposure to the six pillars of character through charac- ter lessons from Character Counts Charlotte Anderson Elementary School students and staff were recognized for their promising practices in character development. curriculum; students earning char- acter “tags” by exhibiting qualities of each character trait aligning with the six pillars of character; and con- ducting Family Meetings on Friday mornings to focus on a particular issue that the majority of the cam- pus might be struggling with. “We are so proud of our stu- dents’ character,” said Principal Sheira Petty. “We are excited to watch our character program grow in the coming years!” SkillsUSA Students Take Home Top Honors Architectural Design students show off their winning ribbons at the SkillsUSA Texas competition. Every year, Ben Barber Innova- tion Academy sends students to participate in the SkillsUSA Texas Leadership and Skills Conference in Corpus Christi. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled work force.
