Longtime Volunteer Receives MISD Ambassador of Education Award In an effort to show appreciation to the community members who dedicate their time and energy to support education, Mansfield ISD gives the Ambassador of Education Award. The award is given to a person who consistently demonstrates exemplary performance and committed service to MISD. The recipient of the 2018 MISD Ambassador of Education Award is Susan Luttrell. Luttrell is a member of many community boards. She also serves on the Common Ground Network, an organization committed to helping Mansfield ISD students and families through its food pantry and school supply distributions. Those who know Luttrell said when there is a need, she is always there to help with a servant’s heart. Superintendent Dr. Jim Vaszauskas helped present the award to Luttrell. “One of the things I love most about Susan is that no matter where you go, there she is, it seems,” said MISD Superintendent Dr. Jim Vaszauskas. “If there’s a service opportunity anywhere in our district, she’s there. I just don’t know of a person more deserving than her.” The award was presented to Luttrell at the 2018 MISD Employee Recognition Banquet on May 17. Mansfield ISD Offering a Variety of Summer Programs L earning is a year-round experience at Mansfield ISD. The district offers a variety of academic and enrichment opportunities for students during the summer. Summer school will be available so that students can recover their credits or get ahead in specific courses. Early intervention services will also be provided. Summer enrichment camps will give students the opportunity to participate in an array of interactive camps, such as athletics, science, art and more. In addition to programs and camps, MISD will provide summer study to help students prepare for the upcoming school term. Transportation will be provided for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade who are attending summer school programs. Also, any child ages 1 through 18 will be able to take advantage of MISD’s summer feeding program, which provides a free and nutritious breakfast and lunch at select campus sites.
