TIMBERVIEW HIGH SCHOOL student council raised $32, 538.08 by hosting a week-long string of events called “H.O.G. week.” It stands for helping others through giving. ABOVE & BELOW | Students from IMOGENE GIDEON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND CROSS TIMBERS INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL were winners in the 2019 Arlington Animal Essay Contest. The contest promotes responsible pet ownership with a variety of topics. LEGACY HIGH SCHOOL’s Camilla Brown (right) and Isabella Estes (left) took home the first and second place prize in the 4-Way Test Speech Contest, which is sponsored by the Mansfield Sunrise Rotary Club. Students in BEN BARBER INNOVATION ACADEMY’s culinary arts program competed in the Texas ProStart State Invitational March 8-9 in San Antonio. The restaurant management team earned first place in the state competition and the culinary arts team finished in third place. Students and teachers at WILLIE BROWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL participated in National Read Across America Day by dressing up as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters. MARTHA REID LEADERSHIP ACADEMY students competed against 21 schools in the Future City Junior Competition of North Texas and came in first place with the best overall project and essay. MANSFIELD ISD hosts its third annual Destination Success College Planning event. It is a half-day of free college planning events, activities, and presentations open to all MISD High School students in grades 9-12 and their parents. www.mansfieldisd.org | 21
