#WeAreMISD What’s Happening Around the District It was a galactic experience for the students at Mary Orr Intermediate School who visited NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Math came alive for these learners at Elizabeth Smith Elementary School when they engaged in a number line activity. MISD alum and NFL cornerback Lenzy Pipkins visited The Phoenix Academy to share the inspirational story of how he became a Green Bay Packer. MISD libraries incorporate books, technology and fun. These students at Brooks Wester Middle School are using the learning space to solve a jigsaw puzzle. 6 Mansfield School & Family The Imogene Gideon Elementary School community showed its support for a fallen Richardson police officer. J.L. Boren Elementary School’s Multicultural Club welcomed a special guest who shared how to eat egg rolls with chopsticks. Writing skills were the focus for students at Kenneth Davis Elementary School when they were asked to create a story about their families. Gifted and talented students from Della Icenhower Intermediate School attended the district’s Advanced Academics Spring Symposium to showcase what they are learning. Superintendent Dr. V was the guest of honor for the Men of Morris. The D.P. Morris Elementary School club teaches boys how to be gentlemen. The pre-kindergarten class at Erma Nash Elementary School spread the love for Valentine’s Day. Legacy High School’s Harmoni Turner was the Inside High School Sports Newcomer of the Year. The show made a bobblehead of her as an award. Students in Rogene Worley Middle School’s crochet club made 61 red hats for newborns. The hats were donated to the American Heart Association.
