Remembering the Events of 9/11 O n Sunday, Sept. 11, the nation commemorated the 15th anniversary of the largest terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives and thousands more were injured after hijackers crashed planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The day has since been memorialized as Patriot Day, and Mansfield ISD campuses participated in various events and activities to remember the lives affected by that day. Although a majority of students were not even alive during the attacks back on Sept. 11, 2001, events like the ones that were held will continue teaching the next generation to never forget. Students at Willie Brown Elementary prepare for their annual 9/11 tribute program. Jobe Middle School students wrote thank you cards to local first responders. First responders were invited to Roberta Tipps Elementary for free drinks and snacks. 20 Mansfield School & Family Legacy High School held a special ceremony to honor the lives lost on 9/11.
