All MISD Schools Meet State Standard in Accountability I n a preliminary report released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), all Mansfield ISD campuses received the Met Standard state rating, which is the highest rating possible. The TEA rates schools as Met Standard, Met Alternative Standard or Improvement Required. The ratings are based on student achievement (Index 1), student progress (Index 2), closing performance gaps (Index 3) and postsecondary readiness (Index 4). In order to earn a rating of Met Standard or Met Alternative Standard, a campus or district must meet the target on either Index 1 or Index 2 plus meet the targets on Index 3 and Index 4. Campuses that receive an accountability rating of Met Standard are eligible to earn distinction designations in specific categories. Statewide, 95.5 percent of Texas public school districts met the state accountability standard compared to 83.6 percent of Texas charter operators. MISD Earns Prestigious Awards for Financial Excellence F or the third consecutive year, Mansfield ISD has been awarded the highest recognitions from two organizations for its commitment to fiscal integrity, responsibility and transparency. MISD received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) and the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). The awards were given for MISD’s 2015 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). ASBO also awarded MISD with its Pathway to the Meritorious Budget Award, which recognized the district’s excellence and clarity in school budget presentation for the 2015-16 budget year. “Financial responsibility and reporting is a duty we in the MISD Business Services office take very seriously,” said Dr. Karen Wiesman, associate superintendent of business and finance. “We strive to be efficient with our resources so that the focus can be on student success, and it is truly an honor for organizations like the GFOA and ASBO to recognize us for doing that.” The employees of the MISD Business Services department will be formally recognized at an upcoming board meeting for their accomplishments.
