spurs open new stadium

After 8 months of delays, Tottenham Hotspur FC’s new stadium opened back on April 3rd, with an opening ceremony before their first home game against Crystal Palace. Costing around £1bn to complete, many have anticipated its completion.

Plans for the new stadium stretch back to 2007, construction started in 2016 and exciting features include: a retractable pitch, microbrewery run by Beavertown, 60 food and drink outlets, a Sky Walk allowing visitors to walk up the roof where visitors can bask in the north London views and conference facilities available for businesses.

The new stadium’s capacity is just over

62,000 which is an increase of over

25,000 from the capacity of the old

White Hart Lane. Tottenham Hotspurs

now hold the second biggest capacity

venue in the Premier League, falling

just behind Manchester United.

In 2015 the NFL agreed to a 10 year

partnership with Spurs to host a

minimum of two games per year.

The Spurs official app went live the same day as the stadium opening. What a great time to be a Spurs fan!

Thames Tideway Tunnel is one of the largest infrastructure projects going on at the moment. Workers are busy constructing a 25km tunnel under London’s river that will prevent the tens of millions of tonnes of pollution that currently pollute the River Thames every year.

Back in late march the latest tunnel

drive begun. It involves construction

of the Frogmore Connect Tunnel

which will connect overflow sewers

to the main project.

At the peak of construction, 4,000

people will be working on the

Thames Tideway Tunnel. As the

project is on such a large scale,

the works are not due to be

completed for another five years.

It is dubbed the “super-sewer” as

the project involves building a 25km

tunnel under the River Thames.
