Don’t give up!

A CV is your ticket to the perfect job, so take your time on it. Your university should provide workshops on how to write a CV and covering letter. Don't forget to tailor each CV for the company and role you apply for. If there is more than one role in the same company you’re applying for having a tailored CV will show the employer you really took the time to make the application. Be creative with your CV - it never hurts to try out different types of CVs.

Networking is a powerful skill to enter an industry. Use social media such as LinkedIn to connect with people who have similar interests as you. Engage with people such as commenting your opinion and posting questions to start debates/conversations. There are lots of free networking events you can attend. Get yourself some business cards with your contact details, predicted or achieved grade and your top 3 skills - this is almost like a mini CV but is perfect for dishing out at networking events. Remember to get the other persons email or LinkedIn to so you can follow up!

Your university experience doesn’t finish when you graduate. Think about how many thousands of people have graduated from your university and how many have gone onto successful careers. Use them to your advantage. Universities host Alumni events all the time. Join your university Alumnus social media pages and connect with other alumni. It could be the foot in the door you need to land your dream job.
