2018 will be a year-long campaign to help tackle the growing engineering skills gap. This national campaign is aimed to educate what engineers do among young people. It also branches out help parents and teachers understand what exactly engineers do and how they can encourage young people to peruse a career in the industry. The UK space Agency is supporting the campaign with a series of outreach projects which are designed to help spark interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The projects aim to give young people an engineering experience and bring them face to face with role models. The campaign has an impressive amount of partners such as: Shell, Crossrail, Royal Air Force and network Rail plus many more. Following on from our spread in issue 7 it seems the government really is doing something to encourage young people to consider a career in engineer.
