DECEMBER 2018 | MANE ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING | 3

a note from mane

Chan Savani

Senior Manager - Engineering & Manufacturing

Welcome to the latest Engineering & Manufacturing magazine. It coincides with the end of 2018 and of course Christmas. Our magazine used to be merged with other divisions Mane operates in, but this one is the first to be solely Engineering & Manufacturing content.

2018 has been a very a good year for us as we enter Mane’s 25th anniversary, and a page relating to this can be seen inside the magazine. Mane has been working with companies far and wide in this industry for over a quarter of a century and I hope that in years to come, I will be adding my notes to Mane’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

With this magazine we have also had a look at some of the zany and weird new engineering ideas being developed later on in the magazine whilst also looking more at the engineering side of AI as it continues to be a talking point across this and other industries too.

Following our divisional re-brand in April, we were given the colour scheme of red and white, keeping with Mane’s traditional colours – and as fate would have it, there is a holiday that is popular in December that also has a popular red and white colour scheme, Christmas.

With this, we had a look at one of the world’s longest running (and fictitious) manufacturers, Santa’s Workshop and looked into what would be needed to run Santa’s Workshop in 2018 from where it is based, employment laws to the even grander requirements for elves, their salaries and just how much it would cost to run Santa’s Workshop!

We hope you enjoy the magazine, enjoy the festive period and have a prosperous new year! See you in 2019.
