The second weapon we'd like to discuss is the MMP. The MMP is the latest (fifth) generation land combat missile system which is designed for dismounted infantry as well as for integration on combat vehicles. The weapons effectiveness has also been proven on small naval craft as well.

The missile and its guidance system offer three different operating modes:

Fire-and-Forget

Man In The Loop with fibre optic data-link

Lock-on after launch (LOAL) for non-line-of-sight (NLOS) and using third party target designation

The MMP was recently tested in extreme cold weather conditions. The testing was performed on the Swedish state firing range at Vidsel, located near the Arctic Circle with temperatures between -15 °C and -30 °C, the cold weather campaign of the MMP was a complete success.

All three different modes were tested and successfully passed which has confirmed the robustness of the equipment used in extreme conditions of negative temperatures which is what the army are in need of, weapons that withstand any types of weather conditions.

The MMP has been in service with the French Army since last year and is still to date the fifth generation land combat missile of the world to be deployed in military theatres of operations.

Take a look at the testing of the MMP land combat missile in extreme cold conditions:
