Megan Flinn

Megan Flinn Custodial supervisor
Describe your roles here at Manchester . I am the custodial supervisor and have been in that role for four years . My first year , I was a custodian and I worked in Garver . Then they bumped me up to do the president ’ s house , and it kind of went from there . So basically what I do is I supervise the 17 people on my team , and I help them to succeed in their jobs .
What do you like best about working at Manchester ? What don ’ t I like ? It ’ s a great place . Everyone here is so friendly . It ’ s basically the friends that I make here . It ’ s also a beautiful campus . Winter , spring , summer , fall – they ’ re all pretty here .
What is your best advice for Manchester students ? Try to respect not only my team , but also the maintenance team , the grounds , everything . Remember that this is your home , too . You wouldn ’ t just throw trash on your floor at home . And use the support system here , because there is wonderful support here . Whether it ’ s academics , or if there are personal issues , we just have an all-around good team .
Your education : I went to Ball State for three years and came back to Manchester . I was born and raised here and lived here my whole life . I got a job , and always thought that I would finish school , and never did . So , I ’ m hoping to do that here . I also read a lot . That educates you on so many different things .
What is your best memory as a college student ? My freshman year , my sister was a fifth-year senior . We grew really close during that year . It wasn ’ t necessarily one experience . It was just that whole year that I was able to connect with my sister . It was kind of neat to get to know her a little bit more outside of just being my big sister .
What is the most valuable thing that you learned in college ? I was young – I learned life . Mom and Dad weren ’ t always there to bail me out of situations . I think that I learned how to be an adult .
What do you do in your spare time ? Take care of my daughter . She ’ s the apple of my eye . We do a lot of silly things right now . I play American Girl Doll . You know , just girly things . She ’ s kind of growing out of that and getting into hair and makeup , which is scary .
