places a picture perfect product online for sale at a very generous price . You fall for the trap and place your order only for them to deliver something from another world .
My younger brother , saw this a mazing pressure pan being advertised online . Being a bachelor , he thought it wise to invest in a gadget that may hasten and simplify his cooking . A pressure cooker was a good idea .
He identified this wonderful pressure pan advertised online and immediately placed his order . He was told he will be called and told where to collect it that same day . This was odd given that his prior experience with online shopping did not promise immediate delivery .
True to their promise , he was called to go collect the item somewhere in down town Nairobi . At this dingy location , he was presented with a beautiful package which they insisted , he could only open after paying . He defied this callous order and proceeded to open it only to be confronted with an ugly pan , a far cry from the one advertised . Thanks to his burly size , he walked away scot-free .
Honestly , I do not understand the desperation that has captured marketers to try and cheat their way into selling at all costs ! It cannot fly . Customers are not that stupid and its pointless trying to get the better of them through dubious promotions and products .
It ’ s actually disgusting for a reputable company to waylay customers on the streets with fake promotions aimed at tricking them into buying into their products . Marketing is a relationship and a lasting relationship cannot be built on trickery . For posterity and long-term marketing success , please respect the marketing fundamentals as captured in the original 4ps .
