‘‘ We all want to change for the better and improve , but few of us actually do . The main reason for this is that we don ’ t decisively go for and purposefully create the life we want . What represents gravity in your life ? What holds you down that you must push against and break free of .’’

Psychologically you could be caught in a web of low self-esteem , selfdoubt , and low-self-confidence leading to self-sabotage , where you doubt that you can do it or feel that you really don ’ t deserve to be successful and hence subconsciously do not take the steps required to push and achieve your goals . It ’ s also possible that you fear succeeding or changing , and opt for the status quo – even though it continues to cause you dissatisfaction .
People around you can also be a factor . Sometimes those we love and respect may discourage us and tell us what we can or can ’ t do , be or have , and when we believe and internalize these messages they become part of our internal reality .
Only you can change what you believe and actions you will take as a result . Identify what is holding you back and firmly decide that you are going for the stars , no matter what , similar to how an athlete or marathoner decides that they are going for gold . An athlete going for gold trains radically differently from an athlete who is simply looking to participate in the competition .
That habit you want to kick , the weight you want to lose , the fitness you want to gain , the high performing individual you want to be come – they are all within reach - if you dare to go for them and stick with it . You are the only person who can attain escape velocity and break free of what holds you back . The only question you need to answer is how badly you want it and , like many athletes , professionals , business people , musicians , actors and ordinary people , take the steps you need to take to get you there .
Start by identifying what you want to accomplish this year then break it into realistic and achievable sub-goals – things you need to achieve this quarter , this month , this week and today . Write all this down and take action with simple , focused execution and periodic reviews , reviewing and making new goals daily , weekly , monthly and quarterly .
The only way to achieve anything is to plan , knuckle down , start , and keep running consistently toward your goal , ignoring all the things grabbing and pulling at you , from within or without , and staying on course .
You have to think , ‘ I can and I will ’ and then consistently take actions that lead you to your goal . You have to be stronger than what opposes you and relentlessly push yourself towards your goal . You also have to order your time and space to achieve your goals - nothing ever happens until you create a space for it to happen in and doing things systematically is a must .
You need time to work out , develop a skill or hobby , organize your home , build relationships and deliver superior work , so go the distance and give it everything you have - we are the fruits of what we do daily .
Set yourself free to attain the goals you have set . Refuse to listen when your body wants to stay in bed when you should be up and running outside , working out in the gym or cleaning out that room . Refuse to listen when your stomach demands another burger or second plate of fries or when you are oscillating between checking your social media pages or working on that presentation . Do what leads you towards your goals first , and then do the rest .
Breaking old patterns to soar towards the stars is never easy . You struggle and may even fall off the wagon sometimes . If you do , don ’ t stay down ! This , too is a choice . Rather , immediately get back up and on track , keeping your eye on the goal , avoiding blaming yourself , but rather analyzing and learning from your mistakes while doggedly and determinedly moving on towards your goal , better and wiser . If you
