In marketing as you seek for greater penetration of your brand you need to use available people resources in the market to achieve your consumer goal . This can be done through distributors , agencies or even brand ambassadors or fans . It is similar OPM – Other People ’ s Money .
Universal Suffering vs . College System
Trump won the elections while Clinton won the popular vote . This means that when we are evaluating performance say in sales we may need to borrow a leaf from the college system to ensure that we don ’ t just look at overall sales without looking at strategic sales that suggests we have achieved relevant penetration .
Popular vote is referred to by some people as universal suffering where all eggs are in one basket the college system allocate some points to some regions creating a weighting effect .
Making America Great Again …
The Americans were choosing between “ Making America Great Again ” against being “ Better Together ”. The great again message carried the day . We may want to evaluate whether marketing needs to be great again or even greater than never .
If the purpose of any business is to create a customer then it means that marketing needs to be great indeed . It is our role to claim our right in the boardroom if businesses are to thrive . This is a call to action for marketers to stand up and be counted for the great role we have to play in industries . We need to punch above the mark which is something we are not doing quite well at the moment
