shows that focussing on positive emotions has major benefits: it improves our level of confidence, it boosts our physical health, it increases our level of emotional well-being -- we feel happier and more content -- and it builds our level of resilience for years to come. Something we all wish for our family! But how do we focus on positive emotions and how can we give it a solid place in our everyday family life?

Write About Your Positive Experiences

In a study performed by dr. Laura King and Chad Burton, "The health benefits of writing about intensely positive experiences", 90 undergraduates were randomly assigned to write

about either an intensely positive experience or a control topic for 20 min each day for three consecutive days. Mood measures were taken before and after writing. Three months later, measures of health center visits for illness were obtained and the researchers found out, that writing about intensely positive experiences, was associated with an enhanced positive mood and significantly fewer health center visits for illness.
