4-H & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

OCTOBER

Title: Learn, Grow, Eat Go! Garden Build

Description: Pasadena I.S.D. will host a Learn, Grow, Eat, Go Garden Build to get families and students involved in the gardening and nutrition programs conducted by after-school program teachers, along with members of the Chef Maniacs 4-H Club. Master Gardeners and Extension staff will lead the program to teach families how to grow fresh produce and prepare healthy meals which include fresh vegetables.

Title: Learn, Grow, Eat, Go! Community Partner Training

Description: Learn, Grow, Eat, Go! for healthy communities is a professional development training introducing teachers, community educators and volunteers to the curriculum driven TEKS aligned enrichment program that supports 10 concepts of instruction to emphasize, Science, Math, Language Arts/Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Health, Horticulture, and Physical Education.

Title: Harris County Fair Food Wrangler Challenge

Description: Food Wrangler Challenge is open to 4-H, FFA and FCCLA youth, ages 9 to 18, who live in Harris County. It's an educational competition modeled after “Iron Chef”. Teams are challenged to prepare a healthy recipe from a mystery bags of ingredients in 40 minutes and present information to a panel of judges.
