FROM THE DIRECTOR

3

Dear Families, Volunteers, Youth, Faculty and Community Leaders,

My name is David Wright and I am the new Harris County Extension Director for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. I come to Harris County with over 20 years of experience as a teacher, mentor, county Extension agent and Extension Program Specialist. I have served in these roles in multiple areas in Texas such as Walker, McLennan, Williamson, Bell and Harris counties.

With the help of families, volunteers, youth, faculty, and community leaders, we will develop Harris County Extension by raising the bar in the areas of 4-H and Youth Development, Family and Community Health, Agriculture and Community Development education. We will accomplish this by doing the following:

• Securing partnerships with key community leaders to serve as advocates.

• Strengthening operations by creating clear lines of communication between faculty, volunteers, families, youth and community leaders.

• Maximizing our human resources.

• Interpretation opportunities with legislators, outreach to specific precincts and districts.

• Recruiting, developing and training volunteers to extend Extension’s efforts while developing their leadership potential.

I have successfully worked with numerous volunteers, faculty and youth through various Extension programs in my previous positions. I am confident that Harris County Extension will be successful in all areas of youth development, community outreach, health and wellness, economic development and horticultural education programs.

I am eager and excited to get this year started, as I know it will be an amazing year for our county Extension faculty and the clientele we serve.

Please reach out at any time via phone, text, or email. My contact information is below.

Thank you,

David D. Wright
