Policy on baseline service requirement

It used to be that the minimum number of hours required from the interns was unfixed. Now, with the SEC Internship Program under 'new' management, the baseline service requirement is 250 hours for retail applications and 200 hours for wholesale applications. The change has been effected after extensive internal consultations with the host unit supervisors, who were very unhappy with the rapid turnover of interns in years past.

In effecting the change, the host unit supervisors are assured of sufficient time to teach the interns, who, in turn, shall be assured of sufficient time to learn, to contribute, and make a difference.

Most assuredly, the change isn't meant to drive away the interns from the usual catchment of schools. On account of its expanding workload, the SEC has to aim for the optimal mobilization of the interns, and towards this end, the SEC has sought to make such interns (and their schools of origin for that matter) see things in the same way.

More hours of service mean better outcomes.
