Policy on redeployment

Would it be possible for interns to request redeployment?

Yes, it would be but only for meritorious reasons. The deployment – or the assignment to a particular host unit – is the sole prerogative of the Internship Management Team, which undertakes it only after the careful review of the results of the screening of the interns. Deployment decisions are always based primarily on the need to match what the interns can offer with what the host units need and on the need to balance what the interns hope to learn against what the host units are permitted to teach.

So far, the only circumstances that have warranted the redeployment of the interns involve (1) an intent to satisfy their need for greater challenges in terms of work assignments and (2) a formal behest of their schools of origin for their immersion in host units in line with their courses. Cases of redeployment are few and far between, however. Mere disatisfaction with host units has hardly provided the inspiration to seek redeployment.

Requests for redeployment can be granted to the interns only once. Under no circumstances shall the interns be allowed to keep changing their units of assignment.

Redeployment is possible but often unlikely.
