Collegiate Chapter News
By Dr. Laura Artesani, Collegiate Chapter Chair
Greetings from Glasgow, Scotland, where I have just arrived on the eve of
the 32nd World Conference of the International Society for Music Education.
In addition to participating in a poster session, I look forward to hearing
presentations and performances from individuals and ensembles that have
traveled here from all corners of the world, and to gain information about
current issues, challenges, opportunities and developments in our
profession.
Our collegiate NAfME chapters at the University of Maine and the University
of Southern Maine continue to thrive, as our pre-service music educators
participate in a variety of events and projects.
Members of the UMaine chapter participated in the annual General Music
workshop in Augusta in September, where we spent a fantastic day with
Peter and Mary Alice Amidon. Many thanks to Nancy Cash-Cobb for
organizing this wonderful event. Members of the UMaine chapter also
traveled to USM in
October for the 7th
annual Northern
New England
Collegiate
Symposium, where
we participated in
a wide variety of
worthwhile and
informative
sessions. As
always, members
of the USM chapter
were gracious and
enthusiastic hosts.
In April, we
welcomed Artie
