to keep your programs fresh; how to use technology in the classroom, and a plethora of other information. INSTITUTIONAL FEES The Institutional Fee is used to conduct the business of the State Executive Board. It is not to be confused with membership to NAfME/MMEA; they are two separate entities. Any school registering for a district or state event must provide the institutional number assigned to that school. Otherwise, there is a $100 event fee, in addition to the registration fee, for every district and state event the school participates in. In the case of district events, the $100 fee stays in the district treasury - not the host. For state events, the $100 fee goes to the state MMEA treasury, not the host. If you have not paid the institutional fee, you can download the form on the state website. There is a prompt at the top of the main page. Make sure that the person who will be generating the check understands that the check AND the form must be mailed together. A number will not be assigned until all information has been received. I will email the number to the contact person. I will be updating the list of schools paid on the mainemmea.org website every week or so. All hosts should refer to this list when checking schools institutional numbers. REMINDER T O ANYONE HOSTING A DISTRICT OR STATE EVENT Anyone hosting a district or state event MUST be a member of NAfME/MMEA and the school MUST have paid the institutional fee. Hosting, although a ton of work, is a money maker for the host school. You also cannot use another teacher’s membership (a teacher who does not participate in the event) as a way to bypass your own membership. This rule can be found in the Handbook under Rules Applying to all District & State Events.
