CAN YOU NAME at least 3 POWER FOODS?

We all indulge, over eat, rush our meals

don't plan them or simply forget to eat

healthy...even though media is constantly

reminding us to eat FIVE A DAY, do we really?

Most of the time? (now increased to 7 a day!)

That's five portions of 80 grams of fruit

and vegetables a day in total, according to

WHO (world heath organization) eating 400g of fruit & veg a day can lower risk of some diseases, like diabetes2, stroke, heart disease and obesity...!

But how about other really important factors in our diet? Let's talk about power foods...

Start your day with a cup of TEA,

as maybe to your surprise, tea is one of our

selected power foods. Tea helps prevent

cancer and heart disease; it may reduce the

risk of stroke, obesity, arthritis, and diabetes; and has antioxidants that protect the body from the effects of aging. (but everything in moderation)

BEANS & MUSHROOMS for breakfast anyone? Well they are both on our list too, but as with beans, try to cook them yourself, instead of using the canned ones soaked in sugars and salt, beans contain no saturated fat, trans fats, or cholesterol. They are high in protein, fiber, iron, folic acid, and potassium and plant chemicals in them protect you from heart disease & certain cancers.

As for MUSHROOMS, they are loaded with a potent disease-fighting antioxidant called ergothioneine, which helps cells in the body ward off damage from dangerous free radicals, which may play a role in serious illnesses, such as heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer's disease.

Come snacking time, 2 hours after breakfast,

hunger kicks in, why not change a habit and

have an AVOCADO or a pomegranate

instead of those crisps?

Are you eating 400g of veg and fruit every day?

Chances are you will lower the risk of diabetes, stroke & obesity...
