Constitutional Conventions
Supported by the Supreme Court, Amnesty International, the National Centre for Citizenship and
the Law, Royal Holloway and Brunel University, the Conventions see up to 100 young people aged
between 15 and 18 come to Runnymede to debate and draft clauses for a modern Magna Carta. In
the morning, delegates debate contemporary and historical legal cases with links to Magna Carta
themes before then, in the afternoon, drafting clauses for their modern charter and devising
campaigns to win the votes of their fellow delegates. The winning clauses are then exhibited in
the Supreme Court.
