Outcomes for heritage, people, communities… and the museum The Magna Carta in Egham project was launched to ensure that in this special anniversary year and beyond the significance and legacies of the Great Charter would be better interpreted and explained, opportunities would be provided for volunteers to gain skills and experience and that more and a wider range of people would be engaged with heritage. Measured accordingly the project has been very successful. Magna Carta and its legacies have been explored, examined, re-interpreted and explained through art, song, exhibitions and even a graphic novel. Volunteers have had the opportunity to devise exciting digital educational resources for schools, lead classroom workshops and research and contribute content to our exhibitions. We have engaged people beyond our traditional audiences, whether through organising events like our Moot at the Supreme Court or projects like the Medieval Pennants project. Through our work we have engaged school children, college students and university students; a variety of community groups, including local branches of the U3A, NADFAS and the WI; and by sharing the curation of our pop-up exhibition with the community attracted record numbers of visitors. 40
