Magna Carta in Egham Project Report Magna-Carta-Report | Page 26

Community Pop-up Exhibition With content contributed by Runnymede Art Society, Strode’s College, Magna Carta School, local churches and residents’ associations and local branches of NADFAS, the WI and U3A, our exhibition in the United Church of Egham was not only a celebration of 800 years of Magna Carta but a showcase of community engagement with the anniversary. The exhibition included the Magna Carta story told through graphic novel banners and Lego, banners that explored the grievances behind the charter’s clauses with specially commissioned illustrations and the stories of how Magna Carta has influenced generations of reformers, radicals, statesmen and lawyers across eight centuries. Over 4,000 people visited the exhibition in Egham (which ran from the 1st June to the 29th August), with over 1,400 visiting on Magna Carta Day alone. 26
