Detention without Trial Debate Resources
Based on resources used at a day event held at Cumberland Lodge, these resources introduce
pupils and students to the complexities surrounding the issue of detention without trial, a
key Magna Carta principle, in the twenty-first century. The resources also include a guide to
parliamentary style debating and two case studies: the controversy over the attempt to extend
detention without charge to 90 days under Tony Blair’s government and Guantanamo Bay.
