Q & A with Jamie Day

1. Why did you apply for the position?

II applied to the position of Assistant Head Boy because I see myself as a part of a team no matter what and I believed that I'd make a good addition to Team 6. But ultimately I regretted not applying the first time for the role of Head Boy and didn't want to let another opportunity go past.

2. Did you have any worries about doing the job?

I was more worried about hoping that I fit in with the team but I soon realised that they were all so nice that there was no problem. I was also worried that it would be too much of a burden on top of my studies, however, I have found that, so far, it has not been bad at all!

3. What do you want to achieve and why?

Honestly, I wanted to prove to myself that I was confident enough for the position and now that point is proved, I want to achieve the feeling that I've done something to help the future of the school and sixth form. But the position does also look very appealing on UCAS applications.

Q: What do you want to achieve?

A: We are focused on the biological side of Team Green, partly because we study biology but mainly because it is an area that has been neglected in the past. Specifically, we are trying to introduce bird boxes and insect homes.

Q: Do you have any plans or events you’d like to do?

A: Last year Lawrence Lewis ran a fundraising group within team green, he raised over £50 for WWF with a map guessing challenge, hopefully we can run something similar to this and raise even more money!

Q: Why are you conscious of the environment?

A: The threat of climate change is not something we can hide from, and it will affect all of us in the future. People need to consider this more often in their day-to-day lives, and that is another reason we joined team green, to fight the effects of climate change at school.

Q: What do you do to help the environment?

A: Recycling everything possible, picking up litter and encouraging increased biodiversity in our garden. We also graft different types of trees to save rare trees and planting more trees in urban areas.

Q: How can we as individuals do our bit?

A: By doing little things such as, turning off lights when you're not using them. There are also many resources on the internet where more experienced people are able to give people such as yourself more in-depth advice.
