Employee awards We started to set the foundation for these partnerships several years back, and their growth potential is starting to come to fruition with sustained increases in acres covered and growers involved. In the short term, we will be finishing our agronomic trainings and continuing to improve our comfort with the Sirrus/ SST scouting software. This comes just in time as we are starting those initial pre-season weed checks on fields. It’s hard not to be optimistic and excited when the planters start dropping seeds. The start of the growing season is filled with so much potential. We feel the same way about our crop service position in eastern Nebraska. Iowa Our Iowa territory team is busy calibrating planters and gearing up for the spring grid sampling season. We are now just waiting for things to warm up and the ground to thaw out. At least we don’t have much snow to melt off this spring so we should be able to get started at a decent time. We are actively seeking more imagery acres to fill up requirements for flying more counties in Iowa but with spring around the corner that should improve. We also have more capacity for grid sampling with added staff in western Iowa so we welcome any new leads and added acres. We can cover a large number of acres in a short period of time! Our team is also capable of helping out any coops in the state with any late season nitrate sampling, scouting, grid sampling, tissue sampling, or any other special project you may need help with, so give us a try. Have a safe and profitable growing season! Dodge City Laboratory Installation of both HPLC and GC instrumentation in Dodge City will soon be complete. High-performance liquid chromatography, or HPLC, will be used for measuring the concentrations of specific sugars in feedstuffs. Gas chromatography, or GC, will be used for measuring the concentrations of methanol and glycerol in a glycerol by-product. Chromatography refers a highly- developed and complex area of analytical chemistry whereby specific compounds in a sample are separated, identified, and quantified Our laboratories have used a similar technique known as ion chromatography, or IC, to quantify anions in water samples for many years. However, the use of HPLC and GC will expand our capabilities in feed testing. Certainly, these are not new techniques, but the instrumentation is new and the technology is something we are excited to have in- house so that we may soon be able to offer these services. 100,000 Acres Award Andy Runyan Travis Allen Jeff Schneweis 400,000 Acres Award Kelly Popp 500,000 Acres Award Kirk Rice Senior Agronomist Awards Ben Colle Davin Doyle 10 Years of Service Corey Fairley Aurora Dubuque Cheryl Fraser DeLynn Lamoree Sandra Lovett 15 Years of Service Sean Jenkins 20 Years of Service James Bieker 25 Years of Service Jeff McDaniel Brad Wasson 30 Years of Service Randy Royle Jean Glover 35 Years of Service Rick Runyan New Employee of the Year Josh Gordon Agronomist of the Year Riley Konen Leadership Award Pat Mai Servitech.com Page 19
