The name of our school refers to…
Amedeo Obici Voltejo was born in Oderzo, in Contrada of Christ 7, 1878, he was the son of Peter and
Louise Carolina Sartor, belonging to a branch of fallen Obizzi, an ancient and noble family opitergina. It was
born poor, but was able to become one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the United States.
In 1885 his father died, and the already difficult economic situation of the family got worse: Amedeo had to
give up school and to become an apprentice plumber, rounding the few dollars that came from America by
his uncle Victor Sartor. In 1889 he got the ticket for the ocean crossing, and then, by himself Amedeo took
the train to Le Havre, then the ship to New York and finally the train to Scranton, Pennsylvania, where his
uncle lived.
