Pikes are by nature visual hunting predator, so, if active, they tend to approach their
prey in an undetected manner. A pike can be found lying among tree roots or in the
shadows of trees and even in lakes or rivers depressions. Very often, in rivers most fish
lay where slow water meet fast water, exactly where preys such as dace and roach are.
Pike rely on three senses to find food:
- it’s sight when attacking live prey
- it’s sense of smell when identifying dead prey
- it’s sense of vibration, identifying water movements of a wounded prey
