Spacebattles.com has various forums, each with its own customs and behaviours.
‘VS. Debates’ is the forum the site is most known for. With this particular site , they not only debate X vs Y, but quantify and calculate exactly how powerful something is to the decimal. The community for the most part are quite passionate about the subject they are discussing.
The user base for the most part is well educated and well spoken. Although there is a spall populations of trolls who are partial to derailing threads from the original topic and generally making the site more enjoyable; to the dismay of some, that is.
The most interesting aspect of Spacebattles in my opinion is the fact that the governing body of the site, (namely admins and mods), are not disconnected from the people they govern. Some actively participate in forum discussions in addition to policing the threads themselves.

I was conscripted into participating in the creation of this magazine.
I personally feel like my time is better spent playing videogames, reading, and generally being counter-productive. I don’t exactly feel passionate about creating a magazine article, but I try to be passionate about the subject that I'm writing about. I am 17 years old, and for the most part, I access most of my interests and entertainment from the internet.
Spacebattles is an interesting forum with approximately 10,000 members. The majority of its members are typically well educated on the subjects they choose to speak of. The forums I am most familiar with are the creative writing forum, and the VS. Debates forum.
The creative writing forum is home to many fanfictions which remarkably enough are novel quality. The “chapters” of the fanfic in question are posted into a thread, which allows its readers to have a direct line of communication with the author, meaning that constructive feedback and criticism is received much faster than in other methods of writing. I find it an interesting way of creating communities around these stories, where it brings readers together and creates a dialogue between the fans of the story their following. While most sites compare how powerful characters are in comparison to each other, Spacebattles tends to quantify a characters abilities, taking an act they have commited in whatever medium they are featured in, and then make calculations to determine exactly how powerful that action is.
