HOMES Historical Update Unique Alexandria farmhouse has been passed down from generation to generation STORY AND PHOTOS BY EMMA BOWEN MEYER F or more than 100 years, four generations of one family have made an Alexandria farmhouse a home. Becky AllenGull will walk a visitor through her comfortable rooms telling story after story of bygone days full of memories. During her turn to own the property that anchors a family, she has added her own beautiful touches (including several rooms) while preserving much-loved pieces of her ancestors. “Back in the 19-teens, the field back there was a glass factory and this house sat nearby,” she said, gesturing to the acreage behind the house. “It closed, and the house was moved here to the road. It took a team of mules two weeks to pull the house, and it broke into two pieces on the way.” Inspirational words are written on many of the walls in the home. “Words are so important to me,” Becky said.
