FRANKLIN STREET MARDIS GRAS & GRAND PARADE Where: Franklin Street, Evansville When: Feb. 5-6 What: Bands, beads and bodacious Mardi Gras food and drinks along six blocks of this Evansville entertainment district. WINTER JAM Where: Allen County Coliseum, Fort Wayne When: Feb. 18 What: This traveling music festival featuries some of the top names in Christian music, including For King & Country, Matthew West and Crowder. In addition to spirited gospel music covering a variety of genres, the event includes worship and ministry and a Q&A session with select artists. Can’t make the Fort Wayne show? MARSH MADNESS SANDHILL CRANE FESTIVAL When: March 4-5 Where: Linton (Greene County) What: Humphreys Park and Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area in Linton celebrate the spring migration of Sandhill cranes. But it’s not just birdwatching, as a Friday dinner kicks off the festival, followed on Saturday by arts and crafts vendors, demonstrations of live raptors and reptiles, kids activities and tours of Goose Pond. DUNELAND WOODCARVERS SHOW Where: Duneland Park, Portage (Porter County) When: April 2-3 What: Artists from throughout the Midwest who specialize in woodcarving, gourds and woodworking will display their pieces and be judged in 47 categories in this 40th annual event.
