What people usually peg you for doing, saying, acting or being like? These are all things that can help guide you there, but you must remain introspective to fully tap into what that purpose is. Once you discover this purpose, you’ll find that there is an action attached to it. That is your mission. We all have our own unique mission(s) that can be executed once you marry your purpose with your passion. THE UNION OF PASSION & PURPOSE What we create is not our purpose, but why we create it is . Which is why I left out passion from the conversation of purpose. Here, I want to consider passion, as the tangible things that you like to do, or any talents you may have. Alone they are just expression, but the why behind them is what truly makes them art. The union between passion and purpose, is how you turn your mission into a career. To utilize myself as an example, my current mission is to help Black women both actualize and build better relationships with themselves. I’ve been a writer my entire life, and have been blessed with the gift of gab. Given that, I utilized this as the opportunity to marry my talents with my mission, by creating a blog, podcast and video series that are focused on the self- actualization of Black women. There will always be a way for you to marry your passion with your purpose, hence alignment. It’s also worth mentioning, that this path is rarely travelled because it is tough. It’s extremely risky to leave life as you know it and wander into the “unknown.” However, what made-magazine.com | 14
