like, “Okay, explain.” I said, “See, an audition would
have an actor believing that people are judging
them... that they have to do something right... that
they have to put this performance on to get this role
so they can get this
money to pay their
rent.” But if you take
a meeting that means
everyone in the room
is important. Everyone
in the room is bringing
forth their piece of the
puzzle to create this
masterpiece. So I no
longer want anyone
on my team to use
the word “audition.”
I, from now on, take
meetings.” They said,
“No problem.” They probably thought I was crazy
like, “Whatever you say.” to shape my life around them. If someone is going to
a 9 to 5 every day right now, I got to tell them there is
a different way. There's another way to go.
And then do you know what my LA agent also
does? Every meeting that he sends to me via e-mail
says, “Congratulations... on your next meeting.”
We’re already celebrating the victory before I even
get to read what it's about. That’s was the subject
line in my e-mails say! Do you know what that
does to every cell in my body? Because when I see
congratulations, I don’t know if I'm getting an award
or if I get to talk to MADE Magazine. You know
what I’m saying? Because it seems like those same things are what you
stood out most for and especially the beginning of
your career with the Twix commercial. Seems to be
that's what actually got you through the door...
It’s living in a utopia. People were like (even my
parents - I love you mommy daddy), but they're
like, “Honey, the real world…” And that's where
that's where somebody along our way went wrong
thinking that there is such thing as a “real world”.
There is no such thing as a real world. Are you
kidding me? What is the “real world”? Are we just
living life, letting life just happen to us or are we
creating life? I choose to live on the creating side. So
those people around me who live in a.. “I just let life
happen. We gon’ see what God says.” “No, God says
yes! What are you talking about?” He said, “If I ask I
shall receive.”
So, when I became aware of all these things, I begin
MADE So what piece of
advice would you give your
18 year old self?
BRELY I would have told
myself, “You are enough”
because I think even at 18
I questioned [myself]. I
thought, “I can't go solo
because I need the other
two girls (that I'm in the
group with to) really make
this thing happen. Like
there's no way I could do it
on my own. And I'm a little
too thick.” You know?
MADE So how did you flip those things?
BRELY Imagine what I would do if I didn’t have
the booty (laughs)? You see how God makes a joke
out of what we think is the least beautiful thing
about ourselves? He'll highlight that thing. So we
should all take our flaws and highlight them. That
would be so dope.

BRELY I just want everyone to get ready for their
