EMPOWER YOURSELF
We all have the right to win. Winning is not just
for VIPs or special guests invited to the party
of life. The opportunity to win is available
to us all. The act of winning or achieving
success is where our power is stripped away
by our own self-deteriorating perspectives.
Believing that someone else is smarter, better,
or cooler causes us to act as if our goals are
unachievable. Unknowingly, we walk around
feeling inferior, worthless and powerless, but
we all have the choice to empower ourselves.
Many times, we wait on someone else to
crown us or validate the greatness that we
already know exists. Fear, procrastination
and inferiority kicks in and positions us to
think of the possibility of failure. The fear of
failure captivates our subconscious minds
enabling us to become stagnant and ‘fake
the funk’ to pretend that we are successful.
Meanwhile, our goals are unmet.
The game of ‘playing successful’ is an epidemic
amongst millennials today and the ultimate
fail. This is a day where followers and likes on
Instagram (or your favorite social media fix)
disguise work from play. What I know for sure
is it takes a lot of work to build an empire and
Oprah wasn’t built in a day.
In 2016 let’s empower ourselves to work. Let’s
discontinue the “coming soon” videos and
let’s cease promotion of upcoming events that
never happen. Let’s stop only launching the
latest online shops and start celebrating the
anniversaries of established businesses.
It’s time to take back our time and put it into
building an empire rather than basking in
the joy of social media attention. Let’s take
back the power and invest in ourselves. Think
about it: “em” in empower is = me. Empower
yourself.
Best,
Kris D. Williams
