#1 Miss that maa ke hath ka khana Ya, that no doubt is a big down-down about living away from home. Those garam-garam rotis, on demand ice creams and pyaaz ke pakode are only a part of dream now. Mess ka boring khana is all you have to live on. And then too, if you get up late, the breakfast time is already over. Thinking of snacking on junk food everyday? We bet, that would itself become boring in a week. You can't eat restaurant stuff for long. #5 A thoughtless roomie Amidst all the trouble you're facing, a pesky roomie may add up to all your problems. You would either get tired of adjusting or would consider kicking her out of your room. #6 Ragging Well, this is the baap of all. No matter, how strict anti ragging rules are, your seniors are going to trouble you some way or the other. May be just an intro or a simple market duty, but all that becomes really troublesome when the baby juniors are already bothered about so many other things. But.. But.. But.. Not all is bad about living away from home. Though few, but definitely there are some perks of staying away from home. #2 Safai bhi, shopping bhi! You were the princess of your home, from doing beds to getting even a hanky, your mumma would do it all for you. But, no more. Here in hostel you have to do everything on your own. No matter, that you haven't washed even a hanky yourself ever, here you have to do everything from laundry and bedding to shopping your utilities, all that, apart from studying. #1 Late night texting and movies Your mom is not here to scold you for texting late at night or watching a movie on your laptop. You are your own marzi ka Malik in this. And thankfully no one is going to check your phone in the morning. #3 No TV Habituated of falling asleep only by watching TV? Oops! Here you won't get that also. The TV in your hostel is off by 10 or maybe your seniors don't even allow you to enter the TV room. And if its a PG, you've no other option than watching that boring serial with your PG wali aunty. So, you'd better try and ditch that habit of watching TV. #2 Waking up late On that Sunday morning you can sleep as long as you want. No one is going to ring a wake up alarm or knock at your door continuously asking you to wake up and go to sabzi market with your mom. #4 Khadoos warden Now that, for most, is a very irritating part. The warden, or many call her/him gabbar, will have a problem with everything you do. You wear a sleeveless top and she might have a prob, you want to hang out with your friends and she might simply stare you badly on asking permission. Its no less for boys, at home you would counsel your mommy very easily for late night outings, but here you have a very strict in-time. And, bribing your hostel guard is not going to work, at least in the initial days. #3 Wear what you want to You bought those rugged jeans or that mini skirt but it has been locked up in the closet for long 'cause your mom doesn't allow you to wear them..? In this case, you are in luck staying away from home. You can carry whatever you want to. #4 No pushing into bathroom For boys, who hate to bathe, there's no more a compulsion to do so, 'cause unlike ghar pe there's no pushing into bathrooms by moms. No wonder, deodorant industry is flourishing. 31
