NEWS MARCH 2018 MAA Annual Meeting a Hit! The MAA Annual Meeting and Elections were held on February 27, 2018 at Ken’s Steak House in Framingham, MA. More than 120 tree care profession- als were in attendance to help celebrate MAA’s accomplishments, network with fellow MAA members, and learn from the educational presentation. The educational topic of the evening was, “Pruning with Intent.” Neil Reilly, from The Reilly Tree and Landscape Company in Plainville, MA was the presenter. She illustrated this by asking members in attendance to stand if they have ever served on the MAA board, the MCA Committee, helped with an Arbor Day project, or volunteered in any other capacity. “This validates my belief,” she said. “MAA members have a lot to be proud of…giving back benefits everyone.” MAA’s Past President, Jay Ippolito, MCA , MCLP kicked off the meeting by sharing association highlights from 2017. Following Jay’s comments, MAA members elected the 2018 board of directors with Natascha Batchelor, MCA serving as the association’s new president. Natascha praised Jay, her predeces- sor, and stated that among his many personal and professional strengths, she greatly admires his efforts to encourage more women to join the tree care industry. Natascha concurred that female workers are an untapped and valuable resource.
