As MAA president, I would like to take this opportunity to express my thoughts on issues that should be important to all of us. We are all so fortunate to be part of an association whose members not only make work safety their main focus, but also take great pride in work quality and education. This is what distinguishes our members and our association from many others. Safety and indus- try knowledge does not come easily – it takes time, effort and money. The MAA recognizes this and has worked hard over the years to offer seminars, training and conferences at affordable rates to help us stay safe and educate ourselves as business owners and arborists. I urge all of you to continue to take advantage of our Safety Saves seminars and educational dinner meetings. New England GROWS is another outstanding place to educate ourselves. It is, however, so much more than that. Attending GROWS creates a strong sense of community and camaraderie industry-wide, and perhaps more importantly, within individual companies when attending as a group. We all need to view these opportunities as something we must take advantage of, as part of who we are, and who we want to be as professionals. Taking advantage of all that is offered helps to support our association and the arboricul- ture industry in Massachusetts. Let’s not keep all the great advantages that MAA has to offer to ourselves. Make a point of reaching out to fellow arborists who are not yet members. We all know of at least one. Let’s make it an association-wide goal to increase our membership. By educating more arborists, the industry we love so much will continue to grow. Directors Ray Rose, MCA Town of Wrentham Wrentham, MA Neal Reilly, MCA The Reilly Tree Co., Inc.
