For our artist who are unfamiliar with, or are new to, the idea of royalties, can you let us know exactly what a royalty is, and in what forms do royalties come (radio airplay, licensing, etc)?

A royalty is basically an amount of money that you earn every time a copyright you own is used. The first thing to understand when it comes to music royalties, is that there are two main types of royalties that can be earned: one for the song itself, and one for the recording of that song. (cont'd)
