Meet
Docman
Maurice “Docman” Robinson was born in Yuma, AZ. At the age of 2, him and his
mother moved to Long Island, NY. Docman attended Public School 111 until 6th
grade. After the death of his cousin, Docman, his mother, and his cousin Nate,
moved to Virginia for a short period of time. Since 2007, Docman has been living
in Houston, TX. Docman is an alumni of Dick Dowling Middle School and J Frank
Dobie High School.
Docman’s musical life began back on the streets of Queens Bridge, NY. He began
rapping only to emulate his cousin. After his cousin’s tragic murder in 2004, the
only thing his cousin left him was his rhyme book. Docman internalized his rhyme
scheme and molded it into his own. In 2007, Docman and his family moved to
Houston, TX. Before attending Dowling Middle School, Doc was enrolled in a
school named Thompson Intermediate. There he has met his group now known
today as Empier Entertainment. In 2010, Docman joined a musical club at his High
School called “The Song Writers Project”. What The Song Writers Project did for
Docman is that it opened up his mind to other genres; It made Docman’s lyrics
more story-based and compelling. Becoming inspired with the works of Mos Def
and Common, Docman has taken a different approach to his lyrics and song development. Everything he does has a purpose.
Docman has worked on numerous projects that have been hosted by Coast
2 Coast, Dj Green Lantern, and Big Sean. He has 4 videos and music on iTunes.
His upcoming mixtape, “New Hyghts: The Mind” is his latest project and is due to
release late May. He is also working on his debut EP entitled “NoVember”. The EP
should have features from some big industry names such as Flatbush Zombies,
Logic, Ab-Soul, Joey Bada$$, and members from Empier ENT (cont’d)
