Q: We see that FirstGlance will be expanding soon to Las Vegas. What are some of the other places FirstGlance plans to expand to soon? A: We have been working on a turnkey solution to provide larger pop culture events a film festival component, and we are currently in talks to expand to Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, AZ, Austin, TX, and Atlantic City in 2015 with a new genre specific programming that we’ll be providing all the legwork, pre production and programming and tailor it to fit into the larger events, with cash and prizes! Q: Personally, what is your perspective on the idea of independently promoting as a filmmaker versus turning to investors to promote? A: In most cases, investors only invest, they aren’t interested in promoting. Promotions and marketing are a very important part of indie film and having a website, facebook, twitter, youtube and blog accounts are very important to build an audience for your film. My personal opinion is as soon as you write your script, go buy the .com, start a facebook fan page, a twitter account and youtube channel and be sure to use these channels and find ways to keep your audience involved....Be online social, while building the brand. Q: If you guys had one piece of advice to filmmakers looking to build their career, what would it be? A: Start early and persevere! It takes lots of patience, drive and networking...it never happens overnight! So if you want to direct...Direct...even if it’s you and your brother and an iPhone...practice and have fun and be careful not to burn bridges, you never know if that production assistant you worked with on a free project last year, won’t be a producer on the next project you work on. 49
