Once I was past all the freak stuff, me and my wife decided to go for it. May 12th 2014 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio I received my Heartmate 2 LVAD. On May 23rd 2014, I was released from the Hospital. The staff at Christ Hospital was outstanding. They saved my life. They did this procedure with care and understanding. They gave me another chance.

It's now towards the end of June and I feel like a new man. With the right clothing you can't even tell I have a LVAD. And the concerns I was worried about before the implant, I welcome these days, I enjoy talking about this wonderful technology. Some even joke I'm Bionic.

I got very lucky. In my search for LVAD information the hospital staff introduced me to a current LVAD recipient, Dan Henning. Dan and his wife Tammy were the couple who talked freely with me and Melinda. Without Dan and Tammy I probably would have made very different decisions.

He became my 'go to' friend before my implant. I couldn't have found a better friend.
